In the present report, the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons presents the findings of her visit to Mauritius from 28 April to 8 May 2015. The main objective of the visit was to identify both best practices and gaps in the implementation of existing laws relating to the promotion and protection of the rights of older persons. In this report, she assesses the implementation of existing international instruments and of laws and policies pertaining to the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons in Mauritius. Based on information gathered prior to, during and after the visit, the Independent Expert analyses the challenges faced in the realization of all human rights by older persons, paying particular attention to ostracized persons, groups and peoples. She also examines measures to foster the implementation of standing laws and policies that contribute to the promotion and protection of the rights of older persons.
